Chapter Four: The Bathroom

There was a diner.

A woman who had already had two coffees and a morning of meetings.

She stepped away from the table.

“Restroom?”
“Just down the corridor.”

The corridor narrowed.

The lighting changed.

Inside, it was...let's say, simpler

Paper towels.
She reached through the metal frame to pull one free.
A soap dispenser that required effort.
Soap with a faintly medicinal scent.
A mirror that had seen better days.

It was the only space that felt like an afterthought.

She returned to the table.

She couldn’t unsee it.
